Water Heater Replacement Tips

Water Heater Replacement Tips

Water heater replacement is something that Leone Plumbing and Heating specializes in!  If you have a water heater in your home or place of business you know that it is a matter of time until you will need to replace it.  If you have a tank water heater, I wanted to give some tips on what to look for but also what to expect if you have Leone plumbers change-out your water heater. If your water heater tank is in the basement of your home, business, or garage always check the copper lines going into the tank.  If you see corrosion or water sitting on top of the inlets, this is a sign of a leak!  Also, check the bottom of your water heater monthly (especially if it is old) for rust, corrosion, or dripping water.  This tip is especially important because the bottom of the tank could bust open and leak up 75 gallons of water, depending on the size of your tank.  Not good!  All of these problems would usually lead to your water heater needing to be replaced. After you call or schedule a trained Rochester, NY Plumber, such as those at Leone Plumbing and Heating to replace your water heater, we would get approval from you to do the work.  Then our plumbers would start to drain the water heater so they can remove it.  After most of the water has been drained the plumbers would remove the old water heater and bring in the new one. As an additional feature, before setting the new tank, the plumber will set an aluminum or plastic drain pan in order to keep water from leaking.  After setting the drain pan the new water heater is lifted-up and set into place.  A new water shut-off valve is set on the copper supply lines and everything for the supply lines is welded together.  Water is added to the tank and after it is full, electricity is hooked up or gas.  The plumber would then turn the unit on and set the temperature at your preferred setting.  It takes a couple of hours for water to heat-up to the set temperature. I hope that these tips have helped you to be able to spot a leak and know what to expect when you have Leone Plumbing & Heating come out and replace your water heater.

Why Sewer Line Replacement Might Be Needed

Why Sewer Line Replacement Might Be Needed

This is something as a homeowner I hope I never have to do, and that is replace my sewer line.  I have actually had to replace several sewer lines when I did plumbing calls every day, and this is something that no one should have to go through. One of the main causes of having to replace a sewer line is having tree roots in the plumbing pipe, and this is when you need a 24 hour emergency plumber in Rochester, NY.  Your main drain line usually runs in the back yard out to the alley or septic tank.  If you have trees in your back yard and have problems with your sewer line backing up on a regular basis, you might have roots in your line.  Once roots have entered the pipe, they continue to grow and expand, exerting considerable pressure at the crack or joint. This increased pressure can cause the pipe to break or collapse, in which case it will need to be repaired or completely replaced. If left undisturbed, roots will completely fill the pipe with hair-like root masses. The root masses quickly become clogged with toilet tissue, grease and other debris flowing from your home to the main sewer. A complete blockage may occur if the roots are not removed and enough waste material accumulates. If you think some of the problems mentioned in this article are occurring at your home, schedule a plumber today.

Fantastic experience with Andy. When we were flooded out, though he was very busy already, he responded immediately and took the time to ask the right questions and diagnose the issue. He offered his immediate help and we are back up and running! Very professional and understanding. This will be the first place I call from now on for any work needed.

I called Leone because I had sewer water in my basement. Two guys came to my house and spent a couple hours snaking my sewer drain, but unfortunately couldn't clear it. The next step was to install a lot line clean out (which was an entirely new concept for me). Andy took time to explain it and answer my questions, and we decided to go ahead with this project. Andy handled getting the utility lines staked, acquired necessary work permits, coordinated the inspection with the City, and when the job was done he communicated with the County to ensure they would come back to my house to unclog the sewer. The crew that handled the work (digging up my yard and installing the lateral pipe) showed up when they said they would and worked with great care and professionalism to ensure the job was done right and within the timeframe that was explained to me. They took pictures of everything and kept me informed throughout the process. The County did show up later that afternoon, as expected, and cleared the stoppage.

We called Leone plumbing because we had a water leak and zero clue where it was coming from. Our ceilings were full of water and floors ruined!! They came out same day found the leak and repaired it. After all the damage from the water we needed ALOT of work done. New floors up stairs and down stairs the ceiling replaced and new counter tops! Lucky us they are a one stop shop! The next day they had someone come out and do and estimate and had supplies ordered in that week!! We had family from out of state staying with us so our house was a bit cramped and Leone plumbing was more than accommodating when it came to what time they could start and what rooms to start. Very respectful workers and very friendly! Definitely something you do not see that often anymore in that trade!! Very happy with their work!!!
